Last Saturday was one of those days. Sweet and simple. Spent with family and friends. We met for brunch. Gluten free oatmeal and blueberry pancakes, shrimp and grits, home fries, sage sausage, orange juice, and a little bubbly. We gathered around the table for hours reminiscing, laughing, breaking down the nitty-gritty of life, sharing each others’ joys and hurts.
I didn’t want to leave, no one wanted to leave. It was so good and so pleasant. We carved out our own sanctuary, a sense of home, a much-needed pause. Savoring life over cups of tea and coffee with honey and agave. Playing board games and then bingo, speaking maybe a little too loudly, caught up in friendly competition. Next thing I knew we were ordering dinner.
In this hurried life, I cherish these moments of just being together as family. It's good for the soul. Apple pie and sweet potato pie are nostalgic desserts that remind me of home. Can't wait to slow down and enjoy a slice!
